By blending smart technology with proven legal expertise, we’re proud to have helped millions of consumers and businesses protect themselves with essential documents worldwide.

A track record of over 25 years

Small enough to be nimble.
Large enough to be tried,
tested and trusted.

Since 1994, Epoq has protected consumers and businesses against legal and compliance risks. As well as the U.S. our services span Canada, the U.K., The Republic of Ireland and South Africa.

Our services are provided globally through more than 60 major brands. These include some of the world’s largest insurers and financial services providers.

Meet the leadership team

Grahame Cohen, Founder & CEO N. America

I completed my honours degree in Finance & Property from City University in 1991. I founded Epoq in the UK in 1998 and for over two decades have been directly involved in implementing document automation and web technologies to leverage trends in the legal and insurance markets in both the UK and US.

Today I serve as CEO of Epoq in North America, where I focus my time and skills on growing the business.

Michael Symons, Chief Executive Officer

I qualified as a solicitor in 1979 and ran my own practice from 1980 to 1987 before moving into property development. In 1992, I co-founded Helphire Group plc, leading it to a Main Market listing on the London Stock Exchange in 1997 as Chief Executive and later Executive Chairman. In 2005, I co-founded LAMP Group Limited, a legal expenses insurer.

I joined Epoq as a non-executive director in 2006 and became CEO in 2022, a role I am thoroughly enjoying.

Clifford Cohen, Business Development Director

My main responsibility is to grow Epoq's presence in the U.S. by being a thought leader within digital transformation and providing customer engagement strategies for the P&C insurance market. I've built strategic partnerships with some of the world's largest companies, worked as a film producer and successfully developed multiple award-winning K12 educational programs. My experience across a wide range of fields brings a unique outsider's perspective to the industry.

Hillel Horwitz, Chief Operations Officer & CFO

I graduated from University College London with a degree in economics in 1990. I began my career in NatWest’s graduate training programme working in branch and mid-corporate lending and then project manager of a major IT project. After five years I joined a Bank of Ireland subsidiary which ran the UK Post Office’s bureau de change service, first as Relationship Manager then as Senior Operations Manager, overseeing 50 staff and helping increase market share from 0% to 12% in four years.

I joined Epoq in 1999 to set up Epoq Australia and now serve as Group Chief Operations Officer and Chief Financial Officer.

Richard Cohen, Executive Chairman & Head of Partnerships

I qualified as a solicitor in 1981 before cofounding Landau & Cohen Solicitors in the same year. I joined Epoq in 1998 as Joint CEO. I’ve contributed to and spoken for numerous panels and think tanks and regulatory authorities including the SRA working group for alternative business structures.

Today I serve as Group Executive Chairman & Head of Partnerships.

Humphrey Clarke, VP of Marketing

I am a sales and marketing professional with over a decade of experience working in the legal technology sector in both the US and UK. I work with motivated, experienced teams to develop business development and marketing strategies, create key messaging, and drive every stage of the sales cycle from lead generation to closing.

Paul Collins, Chief Technical Officer

I studied imaging sciences leading me to a career in international software development working for large global enterprises including Fujifilm and Global Graphics, supporting accounts such as Microsoft and Hewlett-Packard before spending time as a management consultant for Trinity Horne.

I joined Epoq in 2008 as a project manager and today serve as Group Chief Technical Officer.

Emile Gerber, Director of Strategic Partnerships

I graduated from the University of South Africa in 2008 with a business degree in strategic management. I joined Epoq in 2006 and have held various service roles supporting our partners and their customers.

In 2016 I led Epoq's entry into South Africa by setting up a legal service for non-profits, assisting women and children who had been victims of abuse together with the Hauge Institution for Innovating Law.

Today I lead the UK sales and marketing team while supporting the US team, focusing on developing and launching new products and services.
